Postcards from Japan 🇯🇵

A few days away from my studio, swapping leather and weaving for Japanese streets, good food and a little exploring.

I’ve always loved the attention to detail here. The colours, the craftsmanship, the everyday things (and the food!)

A few more days to go. X

I don’t think everything needs to become bigger.

Sometimes the whole point is being able to keep doing the thing you love, in the way you love doing it.

For me, that’s making shoes. With my hands. In my little studio in Noosa.

One pair at a time.

Woven Palm. Less, but better. X

You wear them better. 🫶🏼

A little collection of Woven Palm out in the wild.

Beach days, bike rides, coffee runs, holidays and everything in between.

I spend so much time making these pieces in my little Noosa studio that sometimes I forget they go off and have whole lives of their own.

And then you send me photos like these. 🥹

Honestly, one of my favourite parts of making.

Thank you for taking Woven Palm along for the ride.

Spot something you love? I’ve tagged the pieces throughout. 🤎

An old favourite in a very new colour. 💙🩵

The French Rosette has been part of Woven Palm for years.
One of those designs I keep coming back to, especially when summer rolls around.

This particular turquoise came about after a dear customer asked me to source a very specific shade of blue. We looked at a few options, and this was the one.

And ohhhh, the way this sheepskin looks woven.

Sometimes an old design just needs a little colour pop.

I’m pretty sure this turquoise sheepskin needs to become a regular. X

What style would you wear in this colour?

I could make them differently.
I just don’t want to.

Made by hand in Noosa, one pair at a time. X

Packing a pair of Holiday Slides for a beautiful repeat customer in Adelaide 🤎

One of those Woven Palm styles I’ve loved for years. Simple, easy, the kind of slide you throw on all summer and somehow it works with everything.

Made here, packed here, then off to its new home.

Making shoes just happens to be one of the places I notice it most.
What does creativity look like in your life?

Just trying to film a very serious shoe try-on… 🐕

The Sorrento lately, 11 years ago I created my first pair & they literally go with anything.

Probably the pair I reach for most, without really thinking about it.

Handmade in Noosa. By me 🤎

There is no faster version of this.

Every strip cut by hand.
Every row woven by hand.
One pair, slowly taking shape on my bench in Noosa.

Could I make them faster? Probably.
But they wouldn’t be these.

The Rosette Mule. Made slowly, worn for years. 🤎
